Mangalore, Jul 3:  Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation(KSRTC) has obtained permission to run six buses from the city to Udupi, revealed district in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar. He was addressing a press conference after going through the exhibition of photographs taken by photo-journalists on the occasion of Press Club day at the Press Club here on Thursday July 2.

KSRTC was facing dilemma on whether to run mini buses or bigger buses, as it holds permission to run mini buses on this route. Now, it has been permitted to run large buses.  In the coming days, KSRTC buses will also be run wherever needed, including the city limits. Even though the deputy commissioner, who is the chairman of the Regional Tansport Authority(RTA), is on a two-month training, the in-charge deputy commissioner can convene the meeting of the RTA without awaiting the arrival of the permanent incumbent, he explained.

He asked the citizens not to get unduly apprehensive about the spread of dengue, assuring that the government has geared itself up to face this challenge affectively. 58 persons have so far suffered from dengue fever and three from rat fever, he said.

He informed that all the ports in the state would be developed by adding facilities and undertaking dredging and that the Chief Minister has promised to provide enough funds for the work. As a first step, dredging at Karwar port is being taken up at a cost of Rs 35 crore, he revealed.
