Bangalore: Suryodaya Puja Ordered at All State Temples

TNN

Bangalore, Jul 3: The new muzarai minister V Somanna is following in his predecessor Ess Enn Krisshnaiah Setty's footsteps when it comes to announcing schemes that raise eyebrows.

Proving he is in no way different from Setty, Somanna said he has directed all temples under the muzarai department to conduct suryodaya puja for the welfare of the state and its people.

"I have asked the priests to conduct such pujas before 6 am every day so that regular devotees are not inconvenienced,'' Somanna told reporters here on Thursday.

It may be recalled that Setty had issued a controversial circular in June last year directing temples across the state to perform pooja in the name of chief minister B S Yeddyurappa. In the face of criticism, Yeddyurappa himself ordered the withdrawal of the circular.

On Shivaratri day, Setty had arranged to distribute Ganga jal from Rishikesh at all the Shiva temples across the state. He had also planned to distribute Tirupathi laddoos at the AKKA conference in America earlier last year.

Will these poojas result in rains in hindu areas and properties only ? Will it also rain on muslims and christians ? Looks like this minister considers himself as a pujari or a trustee of a temple. He has forgotten that he is an elected leader of a democratic and secular country.

Why only in temples?? Why not in masjids, churches and gurudwaras. After all God is only one and the same. Will God only hear to temple priests and not to others???

There is one supreme power which controls this universe and it is above everything, above government. Government cannot control rainfall. We must sincerely pray so that it rains and our farmers and us dont suffer.

How illiterate some politicians are! They neither know science, basic logic, nor the secular state of our land. Well one can say they are uneducated in all sense.

How can they instruct religious organizations. Aren''t they outside the purview of government? These orders, don''t they pass through certain offices and do we have peanut eating apes even there?

This is sheer nonsence in a secular state. If prayers in the temples can bring rains prosperity and peace why not dissolve the govt and request gods to govern? This clearly shows the hidden agenda of saffron brigade. All indians must condemn this.
