Daijiworld Media Network - Kundapur (SP)

Kundapur, Jul 3: Due to the speeding winds and heavy rains that lashed the taluk on Thursday July 2, the tiles of a house in Vandse village near Byndoor were blown away while the wooden beams and pieces supporting the tiles also were broken.  Road traffic was disrupted as several trees were uprooted across the roads in both the coastal and Malnad regions.

The villagers of Thombattu in the taluk have been cut off from the main land, as the river Varahi surrounding it has swelled.  The only road leading to the village is inundated in water and the people have become anxious. Due to the tornado that swept through Hattiangady village, two houses owned by Kushta Devadiga and Satish Devadiga and a cattle shed belonging to Loka Devadiga suffered extensive damages. Scores of areca, coconut and other trees and plants too got uprooted. Power connection was severed. Officials including people's representatives visited the villages and assessed damages.
