Udupi, Jul 4: Through an order issued on Friday July 3, the state government has appointed veteran politician and industrialist A G Kodgi as the chairman of the task force formed to implement the recommendations made by the State Third Finance Commission, which he had served earlier in the capacity of chairman.
Prof Dr Mahendra S Kanthi and retired IAS Officer T Timme Gowda, who had functioned as the members of the said commission, will be the members of this task force. Secretary of the panchayat raj department will be the member secretary of the task force.
Kodgi had submitted the recommendations of the commission to the government in December 2008. The report contained recommendations like filling up of vacancies in various departments, development of slums, shifting of Bangalore Turf Club etc.
