Kundapur: Cashew Factory in Siddapur Gutted: Loss Estimated at Rs 25 lac

Kundapur, Jul 4: Mangalore Cashew Nut Factory on Mangalore Road, Siddapur in the taluk caught fire due to electric short circuit on Thursday July 2 night. Stock of cashew nuts, machineries of the processing unit of the factory and other goods perished in the fire, and the loss is assessed at about Rs 25 lac.

The factory is owned by Srinivas Kamat Dakkerbal.  Even processed cashewnuts turned into ashes in the tragedy. Kundapur fire brigade was summoned to douse the flames. The Kundapur tahsildar, who visited the spot on Friday morning, assessed the loss at Rs 25 lac.
