Udupi: Police arrest two - Seize ganja meant for sale

Udupi, Sep 6: The police, on Thursday September 5, arrested two persons from near the railway bridge at Kakkunje here. As much as 2.526 kg of ganja valued at about Rs 40,000, which was found in their possession was confiscated.

Both the arrested men are of West Bengal origin. Their names have been given as Bancharam Mitra (58) and Kukul Mahanta (58). In addition to ganja, cellphone, Rs 3,700 in cash, and a weighing scale were seized from them. The police have found that they were staying in a rented home at Santoshnagar here.

Seetharam, inspector of cybercrimes, economic offences and narcotics act cases (CEN) police station, sub-inspector, Narayan, and assistant sub-inspector Keshava Gowda, conducted the raid under the guidance of district superintendent of police Nisha James, and assistant superintendent of police Kumarchandra.
