Mangaluru, Oct 9: The course inauguration ceremony of the 5th batch of BSc nursing of Father Muller Nursing College Thumbay (FMNCT) and the 3rd batch of allied health science courses Father Muller Allied Health Sciences Thumbay (FMAHST) was held at on October 9, in the Florence Nightingale Hall of FMNCT.
The programme marked the beginning with a ceremonial procession led by the college band, followed by invocation through a prayer dance presented by the BSc nursing students. Paying tribute to the founder of the institution, the dignitaries offered floral tributes to Fr Augustus Muller. Dr Reena Wilma Frank, principal, FMNCT, welcomed the gathering.

















The ceremony commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the light of knowledge and wisdom. The courses were formally inaugurated through the unveiling of a butterfly emerging from a cocoon. The symbolic presentation represented nurturing, transformation, growth and the students’ journey from foundational learning to becoming competent healthcare professionals.
The course was inaugurated in the presence of Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, director, FMCI; Fr Rohan Michael Dias, administrator, FMNCT & FMAHST; Dr Reena Wilma Frank, principal, FMNCT; Dr Pauline Anand, principal, FMAHST; Prof Janet Sequeira, vice principal, FMNCT; Sushma Rodrigues and Hemanth K, course coordinators along with student representatives.
The glimpse of the institutes was presented by Prof Janet Sequeira, followed by the presidential address by director, FMCI. In the presidential address director emphasized the importance of dedication, compassion, discipline and professional responsibility among healthcare professionals. In addition, he highlighted the perseverance of the faculty, management and students, which has led to greater milestones and also insisted the new entries to seize new opportunities with determination.
The formal programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr Pauline Anand, principal, FMAHST, followed by the Institutional Anthem. Following the inaugural ceremony, a Parent–Teacher–Student orientation programme was organised for the newly admitted students and their parents.
The inauguration marked the beginning of an important journey for the new students as they embark into professional education.
