Mangalore: In a Bid to Escape for Life Inter-state Robber Endangers his Life !

Mangalore, Jul 5: As the adage goes, ‘From frying pan to fire’, the most-wanted inter-state robber, who tried to escape from police custody jumping from a train on Thursday July 2 was found in a grievous situation with serious injuries in a hospital at Kanhangad and now has been receiving treatment at Calicut Medical College Hospital. 

Ramachandra alias Chandra alias Suresh, an inmate of Mangalore sub-jail had escaped from the custody of police near Kanhangad, Kerala on Thursday while he was being brought back to Mangalore after he attended a court hearing at Tirur in connection with one of the cases he was involved in. The operations to search him had not borne fruits, following which head constable K H Shivaram and two other policemen accompanying him lodged a complaint in Kasargod police station.   

Meanwhile, he was found in a grievous situation at Kanhangad hospital from where he was shifted to Calicut Medical College Hospital. His condition is said to be very serious. 

Ramachandra, who basically hails from Neyyantigara near Thiruvananthapuram was arrested by Dakshina Kannada District Crime and Intelligence Bureau police on March 30, 2008 in connection with a case of theft. In all seven cases of theft from DK, three from Malappuram, two from Tirur, three each from Udupi and Kundapur have been registered against him. He is known to steal gold jewellery as loot.
