Mangaluru, Sep 6: With great zeal and enthusiasm, ICYM episcopal city deanery here, on September 1 held a 'Yuva Milan – 2K19'. The youth of ICYM episcopal city deanery got together under one roof for 'Yuva Milan – 2K19' at Rosario Cathedral hall.
The programme commenced with a prayer song led by Dheeraj Lobo and team. John Errol Samuel - Patron sponsor of 'Yuva Milan 2K19' was chief guest of the programme. Fr J B Crasta - Vicar forane, episcopal city deanery was the president of the programme.
Yuvaspoorthi Fr Ronald Prakash Dsouza - Diocesan director, ICYM Mangaluru diocese, Fr Ashwin Cardoza - Designate director, ICYM Mangaluru diocese, Fr Anil Francis Pinto - Director, ICYM episcopal city deanery, Leon Loyd Saldanha, Bendore - Diocesan youth president, ICYM Mangaluru diocese, Delitia Asumptha Pereira, Urwa - President, Sonali Rodrigues, Bejai - Secretary, ICYM episcopal city deanery, Sanjay D'Souza, Bendore - Vice president, ICYM episcopal city deanery and convener, 'Yuva Milan – 2K19' were present on the dais.
Vishma D'Cunha, Cascia - Lady vice president, Vivian S Fernandes, Madanthyar - Treasurer, Jaison Leroy Pereira, Shirthady - Immediate past president, ICYM Mangaluru diocese, Minol Mrinaline Braggs Omzoor - Public relations officer and diocesan nominated member for ICYM episcopal city deanery, Sharon Pinto Belthangady - President, ICYM Belthangady deanery were also present at the programme.
A total of 165 youths gathered for the programme from 11 units.
Delitia Asumptha Pereira welcomed the gathering. 'Yuva Milan – 2K19' was inaugurated in a creative manner by John Errol Samuel along with Fr J B Crasta - President of the programme and other dignitaries.
Sonali Rodrigues read out the annual report of the year 2018-19. ICYM ECD executives of 2018-19 were honoured with certificates during the occasion and a token of gratitude was given to Chrisel Vas, Jeppu for her service to ICYM ECD as secretary of 2015-16. She was also wished a happy and fruitful married life. On behalf of ICYM episcopal city deanery, Leon Loyd Saldanha, Bendore and Vishma D'Cunha, Cascia were felicitated on being elected as diocesan youth president and diocesan youth lady vice president for the year 2019-20 by the deanery.
Fr J B Crasta was felicitated duing the occasion for his constant support and guidance given to the youth. The patron sponsor of 'Yuva Milan - 2K19', was felicitated for his overwhelming support to the youth. In the presidential address, Fr J B Crasta appreciated all the youth for their active participation and encouraged them to take actively participate in the upcoming events. She wished great success to the event. Sanjay D'Souza proposed the vote of thanks. Alwyn D'Souza, Rosario - President, ICYM Rosario unit compered the inaugural programme and concluded with the ICYM theme song.
An ice breaker session was conducted by Sharon Pinto Belthangady - President, ICYM Belthangady deanery.
An inspirational talk was presented to the youth by Fr Ashwin Cardoza - Designated director, ICYM Mangaluru diocese on the topic 'Empowering the Youth and its relationship with the Church'.
Fr Anil Pinto - Director, ICYM episcopal city deanery celebrated the holy eucharistic celebration for all the youth gathered. The event was packed with lots of fun filled games. Individual and group games were conducted by Sharon Pinto Elroy Saldanha, Omzoor - Former president, ICYM Mangaluru diocese (2017-18), Francis Monteiro, Siddakatte - Vice president, Veena Vas, Shakthinagar - Diocesan youth general secretary, ICYM Mangaluru diocese.
The valedictory programme of 'Yuva Milan – 2K19' commenced in the evening. Fr J B Crasta presided over the programme along with Fr Anil Pinto. Leon Loyd Saldanha, Veena Vas, Shakthinagar - Diocesan youth general secretary along with diocesan executive and council members of ICYM Mangaluru diocese. Token of gratitude was extended to all those who helped make the event successful. Prizes were awarded to all the groups.
ICYM Milagres unit bagged Yuvamilan 2K19 shield for highest participation of youth. The function came to an end with a baila dance. It was a day worth remembering for all the youth of episcopal city deanery.
