Udupi: Kasturba Hospital, Manipal holds painting competition

Udupi, Sep 6: India is struggling with acute shortage of organs for transplantation. Undoubtedly, the demand far outstrips the availability of organs. Awareness on organ donation, is therefore the only way out of this depressing scenario. In an attempt to create awareness on the Organ donation, Kasturba Hospital Manipal organised a series of events. One among them was painting competition organised to students of Udupi taluk under Different category from Class 1 to 10.

The theme for the painting competition was ‘The Joy In Giving – Donate your Organ’. Kasturba Hospital had reached out to 250 plus schools of Udupi and over 500 paintings were received. For each category first, second, third and two consolation prizes were awarded on 4th September 2019 at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal. Dr Avinash Shetty, medical superintendent, Dr Padmaraj Hegde, deputy medical superintendent, Dr Sulatha V Bhandary, HOD of Ophthalmology, Sudhakar Prabhu, deputy general manager Kasturba Hospital, Manipal were present.

On the occasion Dr Avinash Shetty, said, “It was indeed heartening to see such enthusiastic participation by the students and encouragement by school authorities and parents. He also said that, the active participation inspired the management to have more activities of this nature by the hospital to create awareness amongst all sections of society."
