Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa promises revival of Mysugar, Pandavapura sugar factories

Bengaluru, Sept 6: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has promised to take suitable steps for the revival of the Mysugar Company in Mandya district as well as the Pandavapura sugar factory.

The Chief Minister gave the promise to a delegation of local people led by Mandya legislator C S Puttaraju and BJP supported independent MP Sumalatha at his home office on Friday.

As many as 330 employees of the Mysugar factory have opted to take up voluntary retirement scheme and a sum of Rs 27 crore will be released for the purpose.

The Pandavapura sugar factory is proposed to be revived by leasing it or operate and maintenance basis. The government will take all steps to ensure that the interests of the farmers and workers of both factories were protected,’’ Yediyurapa said and mentioned that a suitable decision will be taken for their revival.

Steps for enhancing the crushing capacity and cogeneration of power in order to boost the functioning of the two factories will be taken along with repairs, he said.

State Chief Secretary T M Vijayabhaskar and other senior officials attended the meeting.

Reliance Industries Vice Chairman Jimmy Ambrolia presented a cheque for Rs 5 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund towards the flood rehabilitation works later.

Major and Medium Industries Minister Jagadish Shettar, Principal Secretary of Industries Department Gaurav Gupta and other officials were present at the occasion.
