Udupi, Jul 7: A Volvo bus of the KSRTC and a motor bike were involved in a head-on collision near Polipu mosque near Kaup on national highway 17 on the intervening night between Sunday and Monday, the bike rider was killed on the spot. Darshanguru (27), son of the late Dayanand Shetty, a resident of Kaup Uliyargoly village, was the unfortunate victim.
Darshanguru was returning home from Kaup town on his motor bike, when the Volvo bus going to Bangalore hit him. Even though those at the scene of the accident carried the injured person to Udupi hospital in an ambulance, he was declared brought dead.
The youth's father, a driver by profession, had died in an accident at Mulky Kolnad about two years ago. The death of the eldest son in the family has brought untold misery to the bereaved family.
