Bengaluru, Sep 11: The petitions filed by disgruntled legislators from the Congress and the JD(S) who had tendered resignations from their parties and the assembly speaker had disqualified them from their assembly memberships, would be taken up by the division bench of the Supreme Court on Wednesday, September 11 for hearing.

The petitions would be heard by a division bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice N V Ramana and Justice Ajay Rastogi. The disqualified legislators have sought the orders passed by the then state assembly speaker, K R Ramesh Kumar, to be quashed and restoration of their assembly memberships. They have argued that the decision of the speaker was illegal and one-sided.

The petitioners whose applications are being taken up now had been filed by Shrimant Patil, K Sudhakar, Pratap Gowda Patil, Ramesh Jarkiholi, R Shankar, A H Vishwanath, Anand Singh, M T B Nagaraj and Roshan Baig.
