Mysore, Jul 9: At the XVth general assembly of KRCR (Karnataka Regional Conference of Religious) held at Dhyanavana, Mysore, Fr  Archibald Gonsalves, OCD, provincial of the Discalced Carmelites of the Karnataka Goa Province, was elected as its president. 

The meeting lasted three days, and the inaugural day was a joint session with the eleven Bishops of Karnataka. The theme of the assembly was, ‘challenges and response in our mission today’.  The assembly came up with a mission statement.

The aim and objectives of the KRCR is to promote collaboration among the religious orders of Karnataka and to build better relationship with the Bishops, clergy and the Laity of Karnataka. The following were elected at the general assembly.

Fr Archie Gonsalves, OCD (president),  Sr Lilly Thockanattu, SJL (vice- president),  Sr  Lilitta, BS (secretary),  Fr Bitaju, OSST (treasurer),  Sr Annette, SJC (councilor),  Sr Miriam, FSM (councillor),  Fr Francis Serrao, SJ (councillor), Sr Olinda Sequiera, UFS (councillor) and Sr  Tresa Peter, FS (councillor).
