Bangalore, Jul 11: A division bench of the state High Court, comprising of Justice K L Manjunath and Justice Ravi Malimath,  passed an order on Friday July 10, modifying an earlier single-judge bench order of the High Court. It directed the Regional Transport Authorities in Mangalore and Udupi to implement the rule regarding the mandatory fitting of the LPG kits in all the auto rickshaws plying in these cities, only after adequate number of LPG refuelling stations are opened in these cities.

This order was passed after an appeal was preferred by a few aggrieved auto rickshaw owners and the drivers unions of Mangalore and Udupi districts, challenging the notification issued in this regard, by the respective regional transport offices. These offices had a set a deadline for the installation of LPG kits to all the auto rickaws in their respective cities, without bothering to give the auto rickshaw operators a chance of hearing or verifying the supply position of refills.

The bench disposed off the appeal, after modifying the order.
