Mangalore: Language Row - State to Seek Time Up to July 21

Mangalore, Jul 12: Minister for primary education and secondary education Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri on Saturday July 11 said that the chief secretary will appear before the high court (HC) on Monday July 13 to seek time till July 21 to explain the state government’s position on the medium of instruction 

Speaking to media persons in City here minister said that the Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by the state in the Supreme Court on language policy will be heard on July 21. He said that there was no change in the state’s stand that Kannada will be a priority in school education. The state will also explain to the HC on which grounds it had failed to register private unaided schools, he added.

The decision in this regard will be taken to overcome the confusion only mid-term holidays for schools, he said.
