Bantwal: State Administration Contemplates Introducing Moral Education, Yoga in Schools

“The state administration has been contemplating introduction of moral education and yoga in the school curriculum”, said state higher education minister Arvind Limbavali.
 
Minister Limbavali was speaking after presiding over the inaugural function of B Com and BBM classes at Sri Rama College, managed by Sri Rama Education Trust, Kalladka, on Saturday July 11.
 
“Major reforms in education are the need of the hour.  Study of English is essential for understanding the global situation and it is also equally essential to have extensive knowledge about our own culture, in order to convey this to the others,” said Limbavali.
 
Sri Gurudevanand Swami of Odiyoor Mutt inaugurated the classrooms by worshipping the idol of Sri Rama.  Speaking on the occasion, the Swamiji said that studies should not become a burden to students and should serve to help them aspire for a bright future.  “Moral and spiritual studies should be taught in schools and colleges in the state”, said Swami Gurudevanand.
 
Meanwhile, the Swamiji also urged the state government to lay special emphasis on studies in Kannada medium, as it will sustain the culture for long. 
 
Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel inaugurated the library on the occasion.  He said that Dakshina Kannada district has several educational institutions that should not commercialize education; instead they are expected to responsible future citizens by imparting knowledge on cultural hierarchy.
 
Mohini Jayaram inaugurated the children’s crèche.  Sri Rama Education Centre president Narayan Somayaji was also present on the occasion.
 
Sri Rama College correspondent Dr Prabhakar Bhat welcomed the gathering. Professor Krishnaprasad proposed the vote of thanks.  Lecturer Umesh Nadtikall compered the programme.
