Bangalore: Church Attack: Interim Report Soon

Bangalore, Jul 13:  Justice B K Somashekhara Commission of Inquiry probing the church attack incidents in the state will be submitting its interim report to the government soon. Justice Somaskhara, who was present at a seminar on 'religion under law’, organized at KLE Law College here on Sunday July 12, gave this information.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the investigation into church attacks is in progress and over 250 witnesses have already been examined. The Commission was asked to submit its final report to the government by the end of December and the Commission is confident of completing the probe by then. The first volume of the interim report would be submitted soon and more interim reports might be submitted thereafter till a final report is prepared, he divulged.

The Commission has come forward to create awareness among the people on religion and law, in the background of the church attacks. For the first time in the history of the state, a commission appointed to undertake judicial inquiry, has taken this initiative. People, legal experts, media men etc., will be allowed to take part in the seminar to elicit the overall opinion, he explained.

The Commission will be organizing such debates in Shimoga, Mysore and Dharwad shortly. People serving in different sectors of the society would be invited to the programmes and their opinions would be collected. The main aim remains creation of awareness among people, he added.
