Udupi, Jul 13: “Suport of the customers is essential for the success of any co-operative bank, especially in the rural areas. Mangalore Catholic Co-Operative (MCC) Bank has carved out a niche for itself in the neighbourhood of Shirva and by shifting its Shirva branch to spacious new premises, it would be able to provide better services to customers,” said Shirva Our Lady of Health parish priest Fr Richard Coelho.
 
Fr Coelho was speaking at a function held in connection with the shifting of Shirva branch of MCC Bank to spacious premises at Sarvottam Complex in Shirva town in the taluk on Monday July 13.
 

MCC Bank chairman Melvyn D’Cunha, in his presidential address, said that the Bank is aiming to reach the people in their neighbourhood. Moreover, intense competition has compelled the Bank to upgrade its banking services to rural customers.  Accordingly, Shirva branch has been shifted to new spacious office in town, he explained.
 
D’Cunha further emphasized, that the Board of directors led by him, intends to open many more branches in the rural areas, as the Bank is focussing to grow as a lifeline of rural masses.
 
Dubai Delmon Security Services managing director Bernard Saldanha inaugurated the relocated branch at the occasion.
 
Zilla panchayat president Gerald Fernandes said that the banks have to serve the financial needs of customers by extending excellent banking facilities, to be able to become popular and grow.
 
Shirva gram panchayat president Yamuna Acchu, Sarvottam Complex landlord K Balakrishna Kamat, Bank directors Valerian Sequeira, Jacintha Boromio, Adolphus Coutinho and Richard Monteiro were present at the dais.
 
Bank director John R D’Silva welcomed the gathering.  Director Dr Edward Nazareth delivered the introductory address.  Shirva branch manager Sunita D’Souza proposed vote of thanks.  Raymond D’Cunha compered the programme.
