Mangalore, Jul 13: Rizwan (18) from Maripalla in Bantwal taluk, drowned in Netravati river near Sujeer Malli on Sunday July 12. He had arrived at the river bank in the company of his friends, who had visited his home.

Reportedly, he accidentally slipped into the river and drowned as the river was in full flow. Search operation launched did not yield any fruits till late evening on Sunday. Bantwal rural police have registered a case.

Elsewhere in Sanoor in Karkala taluk, a person named Ganesh Shettigar (27) from Kuntalpady in the village, slipped and fell into Matadakere tank at around 4 pm on Sunday July 12. It is said, he was sitting with several others on the side of the tank when the incident occurred. Those with him believed that he had jumped into the tank to have a bath. As he drowned after swimming for some time, fire brigade personnel were summoned. His body was fished out at night.
