Bantwal: Septic Tank Traps Fleeing Thieves

Bantwal, Jul 15: Because of an open septic tank, three thieves who tried to steal valuables from a house in Ukkuda Darbe near Vittal in the taluk, could be caught by the policemen.

When the three were trying to steal something from a house on the night of Monday July 13, family members woke up because of the sound. Sensing this, all the three ran away. One of them, who got trapped in the septic tank dug for a new house while running in the dark, started crying in pain. The other two escaped.

The man trapped inside the septic tank was rescued with the help of the policemen. He was identified as Balakrishna Naik (40), a resident of Janata Colony in Ukkuda Darbe. Through him, the policemen collected the identities of his accomplices, Current Abubakker (45) and Hamid (35), residing near Darbe.

The policemen arrested all the three and produced them in the local court. They have been remanded to judicial custody.
