Udupi: Ban on Ore-laden Lorries from July 18

The Hindu

Udupi, Jul 17: The District Administration on Thursday banned the movement of iron ore-laden lorries and other heavily loaded goods carriers on the National Highway 17 from Saturday till the monsoon rains receded.

A press release issued by the in-charge Deputy Commissioner Prasanna Kumar here today stated that this measure had become essential as the NH 17 was badly damaged owing to rains and the movement of ore-laden trucks and other heavy vehicles.

The Kallianpur bridge, Uppoor bridge, Mabukala bridge, and Pangala bridge in the district had become weak by the movement of these vehicles, he said.
