Puttur, Jul 17: In a heart-rending development, an old couple, Vaman Prabhu (82) and his wife Susheela Prabhu (80) from Samethadka in the city, committed suicide by hanging themselves at their residence on Thursday July 15 because of the advancing age and distraught at the fact that they had no one to care for.
The couple is survived by an adopted daughter, who is married. The couple lived alone in the house and the recent bouts of ill health drove them to take this decision. They have left behind a suicide note. The note explains as to who should perform their funeral and other rituals.
