Belagavi: Woman sticks to marriage vows - follows husband in death

Belagavi, Sep 26: In an incident which happened at Bhagyanagar in the city on Wednesday September 25, a lady died of heart attack within an hour since the news of the demise of her husband reached her.

Gururaj Adhyapak (89), a retired teacher, and his wife, Alatha Gururaj Adhyapak (84) passed away on the same day. Gururaj breathed his last at around 10 pm on Wednesday. The news of her husband's demise appeared to be too much for Alatha to bear. She died within 45 minutes since her husband's death.

On learning about the death of the couple, locals made a beeline to their house to have their last glimpse. Gururaj Adhyapak had served as headmaster of Saraswati high school here while Alatha was headmistress of Gomatesha high school.

The couplle has left behind daughters, sons-in-law, fans and a large student
