Udupi, Sep 26: H Hanif, former president of the administrative committee of Kannangar juma masjid, K S Abdul Aziz former secretary and few others reported that Udupi district’s prestigious Kannangar juma masjid’s administrative committee members are making misuse of the money, ignoring the notice of waqf committee and unofficially making money out of the Samudaya Bhavana, which was built for the minority welfare by the government. A serious legal action needs to be taken against this and they demand that the Waqf committee to take serious actions without any hesitation.

Haneef said, “Through minority welfare fund an amount of 50 lakh rupees has been granted for building Samudaya Bhavan. All the construction works are completed and the amount has been sanctioned by the government. But, today the samudaya bhavana is renamed unofficially as Aiba auditorium and an amount ranging from 30 to 50 thousand is collected as rent and masjid’s receipt is being used unofficially by the committee.

“This is completely against the regulations of the minority welfare commisiion. In addition, amount collected through rent is not submitted to the waqf committee. For the benefit of minorities, government has sanctioned money for the samudaya bhavana and according to the rules people are made to use this for free or for a nominal price. But the committee is misusing it and making money out of it. It is also reported that if a boy gets married in a different hall, then he has to pay a fine of 30,000 rupees and also the register book is not being sent to the nikha programme by the ustaad.

“The government has to investigate and take serious action against the committee. Government has sanctioned amount to masjid for the traveler’s stay. False information is provided to the government and five lac rupees out of 30 lac rupees is withdrawn. Complete work is not done in the newly built masjid wall and there are many loopholes in it. Administrative committee is said to have political power as well as money power and are ignoring the regulations of waqf committee as well as the government. Hence a serious action regarding this has to be taken by the government and the government must see that the loss caused must be paid back by the administrative committee.
