Bantwal, Oct 2: “There have been opinions for and against the decision to introduce English as a medium of instruction in government schools. I will discuss this issue with the chief minister towards finding an amicable solution to the problem,” said Karnataka state minister of education, S Suresh Kumar.

Speaking to reporters in the office of Bantwal MLA on Monday night, he said that many literatures have been opposing English medium but parents vehemently say that they want it. “Therefore, the government will collect the opinions of all the sides. In general, people want their children be taught English from the first standard,” he said.

“Additional safety measures have been undertaken in schools to prevent sexual harassment of female students. A video conference will be held with the superintendents of police of all the districts in this connection,” he added.

“The quality of bicycles that are being distributed to students is being scrutinized for improvement with the cooperation of mechanical engineering departments of various engineering colleges in different regions,” he said.

“We are thinking of holding special examinations for 6th and 8th standard students to judge their levels of knowledge. Opinions are being obtained to bring down the weight of school bags,” he said.

He was accompanied by MLA Rajesh Naik Ulippadiguthu and former MLC, Capt Ganesh Karnik.

English is already taught in government schools as second language. Instead of starting from Class 5 let them start from Class 3 which will help the students in having better knowledge of the language by the time they reach high school.

In the context of speaking and understanding English, we must thank the Britishers for ruling India.

Only because of our ability to speak, write and understand English, today Indians are preferred everywhere in the world, especially over the Chinese, though Chinese people are also extremely brilliant but for their inability to speak English.

So Suresh Sir, do not barisu Kannada Dindima. What you can offer for youngsters who know only Kannada? The way this state is going, even Ganji bhi nahin milega for the coming generation, if they do not get out of this state for livelihood.

A handful Kannada activists have been successful over the last few decades to bulldoze the Governments into accepting that only Kannada can be used in lower primary levels.

While Kannada has its merits, many Karnatakans have to outside the state to get a job.

Look at the hardships caused to such jobseekers by this handful of Kannada activists!

Happy to hear the Government is finally waking up to hear the voice of the parents (mainly because Kannada schools are running empty).

Our great prime minister using Hindi Mathra Basha in U.N..in front of more than delegates from 150 countries. Where ever colonised country done by britishers introduced English compulsory.

The North Indian Hindi media shamelessly propagates the lie that Hindi is the national language. India has no National Language. The Constitution of India does not give any language the status of the national language. We have 22 Official languages.

Russia, Germany & France create jobs for their nationals. Moreover how many of Indian nationals knows national language?

Kaikamba John...Chinese is single most language speaking in the world and not english. It means people from other countries not tried to learn other languages irrespective of only english. By the way Sanskrit and Tamil is mother of all languages...it dated back to as far as ten thousand year.
