Udupi: Fisherman slips During Fishing, Drowns

Udupi, Jul 25: In an incident that occurred on Thursday July 23 morning in Malpe, a fishermen engaged in fishing activity through a country boat, lost his balance and fell into the sea, losing his life in the bargain.

The victim has been identified as Somaiah Putran, a resident from near Udyavar Koppal. On the morning of Thursday July 23, he along with other 12 fishermen, left for fishing in the country boat named 'Jayalaxmi Disco Fund'. While spreading the net about six kilometres off Malpe coast, he reportedly lost balance due to high waves. Even though other fishermen jumped into the sea immediately and tried to rescue him, they did not succeed in saving him.

A case in this connection has been registered in Malpe police station.
