New Delhi, Oct 9 (DWNN): The finance ministry has recommended the closure of struggling telecom companies BSNL and MTNL, Financial Express has reported.
The cost of closing the two state-run companies would not be as high as Rs 95,000 crore, a number put out by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), the report said.
The sum of Rs 95,000 crore factored in a voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) for all 1.65 lakh BSNL employees and its debt repayment, the report said.
The government has rejected DoT's request for a Rs 74,000-crore bailout package for BSNL and MTNL, an earlier report in the newspaper had said.

Thu, Oct 10 2019Bsnl every where. Jio don't have network at all. I am using only BSNL because of its coverage. Simply closing will put many people lives in trouble. Govt. Should find some good methodology to revive existing govt. Companies. Just remove those staffs who are not contributing anything or change management.

Wed, Oct 09 2019Another move by this bajapa government to help geo mobile to gain customers. The fact is that BSNL has been gaining customers in past few months. BSNL caters to people in rural areas where private do not venture.

Wed, Oct 09 2019Wherever the tax payers money involved no one is bothering and its a sad thing in India, just like pelt stone on govt buses without thinking that the repairing money goes from their pockets not from any terrorist or pakistan or chinese !!
