Udupi, Oct 12: C M Joshi, judge of principal district and session court, Udupi , postponed the verdict related to the suicide case of Prithvi Ampar, a national level athlete on October 10 and is most likely to pronounce the much awaited justice on October 30.

Advocate Ravikran Murudeshwar recalled Prathvi’s achievements in the field of sports and also mentioned how a girl from Amparu village of Kundapur taluk represented the state in national level meets and was a promising athlete for the future. He stated that Prithvi was very good at Javelin and in her school days she used to practice with regular sticks instead of javelin sticks at Sanjay Gandhi High School due to unavailability of Javelin. Her throw was excellent and she had dedicated herself into sports.

After SSLC, she was offered seat by Alvas College Moodbidri and SMS College Brahmavar. She was admitted to SMS College Brahmavar and stayed in the college hostel with her mates from same village. Ravikiran said that during her second year of college she came in contact with Misban (22), a former student of the college, who was also the sports secretary. Misban gifted her mobile phone and they would meet each other through the help of the cook.

Differences grew between them and it became public during the sports meet when Misban pulled her bag and college physical education director had to intervene. It is said that the PED had warned Prithvi not to bring personal issues on the ground. At Dasara meet which was held in Mandya, Prithvi gained second prize in javelin and third prize in high jump. It was reported that she celebrated her victory by dancing in the college hostel.

Ram Niwas Sepat, IPS officer, who was the ASP of Puttur, investigated the case. The police found her phone soon after her death. Her father and uncle complained to the coaches, hostel wardens and college management doubting harassment. But the police found Misban, who was responsible for her suicide based on the diary which she had
written. She mentioned in her diary that she never loved him but instead hated him and also hated boys. She had written that Misban had threatened to come to her hostel. Handwriting expert Ashwathappa had explained to the court what she had written in the book, said Ravikiran Murudeshwar.

It was also seen that Misban had not called her during the last 3 days before her death but a text message was sent which stated that he would reveal their relationship to her family. Her dairy was not maintained as a diary, but as a notebook and hence her state of mind could not be predicted before her death, said advocate Ravikiran. Whereas Misban who was booked under section 306(Abetment of Suicide) of IPC has been released on bail.

The court has examined 25 witnesses and 27 documents with regard to this case. Advocate Ravikiran Murudeshwar and public prosecutor Shanti Bhai are likely to present the suicide ase of Prithvi Ampar for the final time on October 30. This verdict of the court is being awaited by thousands of people from in and around the district.
