Udupi: Speeding car kills pedestrian waiting to cross road

Udupi, Oct 14: In an accident which happened near Laxmi marriage hall at Santhekatte on Sunday, October 13, a pedestrian lost his life.

The deceased was Narayan Shettigar (68), living at Badagabettu Kukkadakatte. He was waiting to cross the road in front of Laxmi marriage hall to attend a function organized at Sharada Hotel here, when a car that came at high speed from the direction of Karavali Junction knocked him down.

Shettigar fell on the road with force, resulting in serious injuries. Although he was immediately taken to a private hospital, his life could not be saved. The police who have registered a case, are probing the incident.
