Mangaluru, Oct 14: Flash floods in the Nethravathi and its tributaries caused extensive damage to public and private properties in Didupe, Mithabagilu, Killur, Kadirudyavara, Neria and Charmadi areas of Beltangady taluk in the recent times. Hence Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra (CKSK) managed by the Franciscan Capuchin Friars dedicated to work with socio-economically marginal farmers, landless labourers, youth, women, children and the differently able in the rural sector since 1976 in Beltangady taluk and Child Fund India a child development organization, working with underprivileged children, youth and families from the most remote, extremely backward and hard-to-reach areas in India since 1951 which reaches nearly 3.5 million children, youth, and their families, from 3,200 communities in 85 districts across 15 states in India, through its long and short-term programmes and partnerships and The Hans Foundation Delhi jointly helped 450 households with relief kit.

The CKSK staff surveyed the affected area in Beltangady taluk using Kobo collect application. The total surveyed households were six hundred. After a meticulous study only 450 most affected families were taken for the benefit. Throughout the process about one week of the relief work Manikanda Kumar, M & E Lead South Zone from ChildFund India helped the team for the proper distribution.

As many as 450 families of 33 villages had benefited by the programme and received the basic necessary daily usage items. The team also recorded the stories and testimonials of the affected people. Fr Vinod Mascarenhas, director, Fr Rohan Lobo, project manager and staff Siddanth, Merin, Poornima, Ashok, Savitha, Shobha, Anuradha, Rohini, Lavina, Emmilda and Mohini helped in the entire process of survey and distribution. The local leaders, gram panchayat members and voluntaries also rendered their help in various capacities.
