Karkala: Bike-scooter accident - Rider killed at Belman

Karkala, Oct 15: An accident involving a scooter and a motorbike occurred near the Belman church near police check post on Sunday October 14. In this accident, the scooter rider died on the spot.

The deceased was Ashwith from Madenadu. He was a distributor for Kannada daily, 'Udayavani'.

Ashwith was returning from Belman and was moving towards Padubidri from the direction of Nitte, when a motorbike which was following him hit the scooter in an effort to overtake it. Scooter rider then fell down, got crushed under the wheels of a bus that was also moving in the same direction.

Ashwith, it is learnt, had married last month. His wife, Akshitha, who was the pillion rider, escaped unhurt. In a complaint, Manjunath from Kodavoor said that the accident happened on account of excessive speed and recklessness on the part of the motorbike rider.

A case was registered in this connection in the rural police station here.
