Bengaluru, Oct 15: Hearing into the bail application moved by former Karnataka minister, D K Shivakumar, who is currently in judicial custody relating to money laundering case, was on Monday, October 14, adjourned by the Delhi high court to Tuesday. The high court could not hear the bail plea on Monday as a senior advocate representing Shivakumar, Abhishek Mani Singhvi, was not available for the hearing.

The hearing of the bail application was scheduled to be heard on Monday morning. But Shivakumar's advocate, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, was not present in the court. This fact was brought to the notice of the court before the start of the hearing of the case. They pleaded with the bench to adjourn the case to the afternoon session, as Singhvi would be available from 3 pm onward. The court, however, adjourned the case by one day.

On Tuesday, Shivakumar would be produced in the Central Bureau of Investigation special court. His judicial custody period is ending today.

In all likelihood, enforcement directorate may seek an extension of his judicial custody.

At the same time, the applications moved by Sachin Narayan, Anjaneya, and Sunil Sharma, who are facing the prospects of getting arrested relating to recovery of cash in a flat at New Delhi, urged the Supreme Court to extend the interim order against their arrest issued earlier. They are close associates of Shivakumar.

Advocate for the above three urged the high court to take up the application seeking an extension of protection from arrest on Monday itself. He said that they have not been able to file an appeal against the order of the single judge bench as the Supreme Court was on vacation. They, therefore, sought interim protection till an appeal is filed, and to take up the hearing of the petition urgently. The court, considering the plea, said that it would be taken up the plea on Tuesday.
