St Mary’s Education Institutions, Shirva correspondent Fr Richard Coelho inaugurated Kalattur–Santoor Kopla cluster-level Pratibha Karanji, a talent contest at St Mary’s Pre-University College, Shirva, near here on Thursday July 30. 
 
Speaking on the occasion, Fr Coelho said Pratibha Karanji is a platform that recognizes and nurtures the inherent talent among students. He urged all the teachers to encourage extra-curricular activities within the framework of curriculum.
 


Block education officer D Manjunataiah said that the schools across the district have been making new strides in the cultural and sports sphere, besides studies since a few years, which can be attributed to the encouragement by parents, authorities of school and department of public instructions.
 
St Mary’s Parish Council, Shirva vice-president Norbert Elias Machado was the chief guest. College principal Felix Andrade welcomed the gathering and teacher S S Gopal compered the programme.
 
More than 500 students from 26 schools, both primary and high schools participated in the competition.
