Bangalore: Accident near Bidadi: Eight Die

Bangalore, Aug 1: Eight workers of Madhura Garments located on Bangalore-Mysore Road died in an accident that occurred on the evening of Thrusday July 30, near Bidadi on Mysore Road. While employees named Sandeep, Suresh Ramanath, Naresh, Kavita, Geeta and Rajesh died on the spot, another employee named Rajesh died while being shifted to hospital, Ramanagar district superintendent of police S B Bisalenahalli said. Another man named Vijaykumar died in the hospital later.

The employees were returning to Bangalore after the duty hours. Suresh drove the Tata Sumo vehicle in which they were travelling. A lorry loaded with vegetables, which was moving towards Mysore from Bangalore, went out of control and hit another truck. It then jumped over the median of the road and collided with the Tata Sumo vehicle moving on the other half of the road. All the eight occupants of the vehicle either died on the spot or succumbed to injuries later.

The policemen are investigating.
