Bangalore, Aug 1: Leader of the opposition in the state assembly, Siddaramaiah, alleged that the state is moving towards bankruptcy because of the monetary indiscipline and that it has been finding it hard even to pay the salaries of its employees. Addressing a press conference here on Friday July 31, he charged the Chief Minister with trying to mislead the general public by furnishing bogus figures. He said that the government has been the worst he has ever seen, as far as making tall claims and telling lies are concerned.

Siddaramaiah charged the government with raising loans in excess of 50% of its internal revenue generation. During the last year alone, the government raised over Rs 75,000 crore in the form of loans and kept payments to the tune of Rs 800 crore pending in various departments. Corruption is rampant and there is no development in any of the fields. The Chief Minister has showing a brave face in connection with the scandals and the truth will come out soon, he added.

Siddu claimed that the state government has violated the rule that the legislature should hold sessions at least for 60 days in a year. "The government is trying to shy away from the scandals. The suggestion given by the opposition in the meeting of the advisory committee on legislature proceedings, to convene a minimum of ten days session in August, was rejected outright," he alleged.

Siddaramaiah said, his party has details of various other scandals to floor the government. The government should either hand over inquiry into the scandals to the CBI of if he has no confidence in CBI, then to the Lokayukta. The Congress Party will also submit a memorandum to the governor on these issues, he explained. He alleged, that the government has failed to properly utilize the grants received from the central government in various fields, but is still alleging that the central government has not released sufficient grants to it. He criticized the district in-charge ministers for not visiting flood-hit areas and thehealth minister, not caring to personally check the situation about the endemics like dengue and chikungunya. Siddaramaiah also came down heavily on the government for enforcing power cut when all the resevoirs in the state are full. He felt, Eshwarappa has been unable to properly manage the energy department.
