Mangalore: Bunts Sangh, Suratkal Unit, bags Trophy at ‘Banta Kalotsav’

Mangalore, Aug 6: Bunts Sangh, Suratkal unit near here, bagged a cash reward of Rs 11,111 and a trophy, at ‘Banta Kalotsav’, a talent contest, organized recently by Sri Ganeshotsav Samiti of Bunts Hostel in the city.  Suratkal unit president Devanand Shetty and members received the award on the occasion.

Nearly 75 members of Bunts community, ranging from toddlers to octogenarians, participated in the ‘Bunts Kala Vaibhav’ programme, which was held to convey the cultural hierarchy of Bunts community, passed on over generations and the message to continue the tradition in the future by the new generation of Bunts.

‘Bantera Badk’, a presentation, directed by K K Pejavar, featuring the traditions and culture followed by the Bunts, in the past and giving a call to the new generation of Bunts, to carry on the community traditions in the future, was staged by Bunts Sangh, Suratkal unit. 

Bunts Sangh, Ullal, near here, bagged the second prize and took home the cash reward of Rs 7,777 and a citation.  Bunts Sangh, Jappinamogaru unit, here bagged the third cash prize of Rs 5,555 and a citation.

Sri Ramakrishna Pre University College bagged the consolation prizes for top theme dance.  Suratkal unit also secured a prize for top conversational skills and Ullal unit secured a prize for top singing.

Bantara Yane Nadavara Matr Sangh president K Amarnath Shetty presented prizes to all the winners.

Talent Contest Committee convener Dr Asha Jyoti Rai, Manjunath Bhandary Shedde, Balakrishna Shetty, Raviraj Shetty, Chandrahas Shetty and Umesh Shetty were present on the occasion.

Jeevanram Sullia, Dr Ashok Alva and K P Shetty officiated as the jurors of the talent contest.
