Mangalore: SAC Pays Tribute to Former Faculty Members

Mangalore, Aug 7: A condolence meeting was organized in St Aloysius College to honour three former professors—Prof K Gopal Rao, Prof K B Janardhana, and Fr Robert Sequeira—who died within a span of one week.

Rich tributes were paid to the deceased academicians. Prof M L Sureshnath, president, and Chandrashekar Shetty, general secretary, SAC Staff Association, offered their heartfelt condolences.

Prof Janardahna (60), well-known taxonomist and retired professor of Botany, died in the city on Thursday August 6.

He is survived by his son, daughter, and wife. Prof Janardhana served in the college’s department of Botany for 32 years. He was instrumental in constructing “Alvana” a small eco-forest on campus.

Meanwhile, Fr Sequiera, professor of Chemistry, died in Bhubaneshwar on Tuesday August 4.

He had served the college from 1974 to 1979 and had evinced active interest in developing sports and games in the institution.
