Puttur: Broadband Internet Facility at St Philomena College Library

Puttur, Aug 8: The Student Internet Facility, sponsored by the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) of the College, started functioning at the library of St Philomena College here. The PTA of the College has donated two latest multi-media computers worth Rs 50,000 to the library, for providing broad band internet facility to the college students.



President of the PTA, Dr K V Nagaraj, who inaugurated the facility on August 1, said that internet is one of the most important components for a library to be effective. He advised the students to make use of this facility for their academic purpose.

Campus director of the College, Fr Eric Crsta, blessed the occasion. Fr F X Gomes, principal of the College, thanked the PTA for this valuable contribution. Librarian of the College, Abdul Rahman G, explained about the open access resources and journals available on the net, which would be helpful to the students for their academic activities.

Prof Ganesh Bhat introduced the guests. Prof Jagadish Holla welcomed the guests. Prof Vijaya Kumar Moleyar proposed vote of thanks.

    The Broadband facility is definitley of great use for the students and particularly in the library. I request the PTA or the college whoever is getting the Broadband connection done to think twice particularly if it is from BSNL. I have a bitter experience of paying the yearly rent in advance and the facility did not work for 4 months out of 6 six months after the connection was carried out..
