Karwar: Three Hubli Students on Excursion to Tagore Beach Meet Watery Grave

Karwar, Aug 9: Three students from Hubli who were on an educational tour to Karwar in an unfortunate accident drowned at sea off Rabindranath Tagore beach here on Saturday August 9 afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Sayyed Haasham Abdulla Shah Shuttari (15) of Koulipet, Akhtar Raja Abdul Karim Magaami (15) of Dashab Mohalla and Nikramulla Mukhtar Ahmed Aavundi (17) of Gousia Town, all students of Anglo Urdu High School of Anjuman Institution, Gantikeri in Hubli. While the bodies of the former two students have been recovered, the body of the latter is yet to be found.   

The three students were part of the team comprising 30 tenth standard students that arrived on excursion along with three teachers and an attender. The three deceased students are among the students who were swimming in the sea while a giant wave pulled them into the sea. It is said that the students and also the teachers ventured into the sea despite warning by the local fishermen on dangers of swimming in the rough sea.
