Hassan: 'We will not preempt government's fall' - H D Revanna

Hassan, Nov 1: "Did any of the JD(S) leaders request the Congress to get associated with us?," quipped former minister H D Revanna.

Speaking at a press meet here on Thursday October 31, he said that his party's policy is to maintain equidistance from both the national parties, the Congress and the BJP. "We note that leader of the opposition in the assembly, Siddaramaiah, has said that his party does not like to be associated with the JD(S). I want to know from him who had forced him to get involved with the JD(S)," he stated.

Revanna said that his party will not create problems for the state government, but stressed that the JD(S) would be helpless if the BJP government crashes on its own. However, he said in an emotional voice that time will decide the contributions made to the state and country by former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, and H D Kumaraswamy to the state.

He recalled that Kumaraswamy has said that he would not destabilize the state government at a time when the state is reeling under heavy rain and flood. He asked the newsmen not to attach any political hue to this statement. "The leader of the opposition has said that his party will go to polls once the BJP government crumbles. At this juncture, election, if imposed, will prove to be a burden for the people. It is the duty of everyone to vibe to the woes of flood-affected people at this time," he explained.

Revanna said that people know the tricks owned by the Congress during the previous assembly election to finish off the JD(S) and also how many leaders grew up politically under the JD(S), which is like a factory manufacturing leaders. He also wanted to know the reasons for the defeat of Deve Gowda in Tumakuru Lok Sabha constituency. "Everyone knows why Deve Gowda lost the Lok Sabha election. Congress should openly admit about the internal agreement they had entered into someone else to defeat the JD(S). We also want to know why the Congress leaders deserted their party in order to make the state government to fall apart," he said.
