Udupi: Renovated Cemetery of Katapady Church inaugurated

Udupi, Nov 3: Renovated Cemetery of St. Vincent De Paul Church, Katapady was blessed and inaugurated by Dr Gerald Issac Lobo, Bishop Diocese of Udupi on Saturday, November 02, 2019.

On the occasion, Bishop said "Church is a first holy place to the Christians followed by the cemetery because in the Cemetery we cremate our loved ones and are intended to pray for them every day. In foreign countries, Cemeteries are beautifully maintained the same is now followed by us. The cemetery should be kept clean and holistic".

Before the Inauguration and blessing of the cemetery, Bishop offered Holy Mass to the departed souls on occasion of All Souls Day.



Late. Albert Periera and Hilary Pinto Dubai, site donors of the cemetery were also remembered on the occasion. Fr Ronan D'Souza, Parish priest extended his gratitude to the Minority Commission, Government of Karnataka and donors for helping in renovating the cemetery.

Elias D'Souza, project engineer Lingappa Bhimappa Jamakhandi, Supervisor and Shashidhar Salian were honoured on the occasion.

Leslie Suvares, Vice-President Parish Pastoral Committee Catherine Rodrigues, Secretary Wilfred Lewis, Convener 18 Commissions were present on the occasion.
