Davanagere: Will you stop 'Tipu Salaam Puja' in Kollur, Shringeri temples?, challenges former min

Davanagere, Nov : "No one can erase the history of Tipu Sultan. The present government can remove his lesson from the school text books. Is it possible to remove him from history?" questioned former minister U T Khader of the Congress party.

U T Khader further said, "It is a loss for the students, if the lesson on Tipu is removed from the history text books of the school. It is impossible to erase the history of Tipu Sultan. The history and personality of the king of Mysuru Tipu Sultan is not limited only to the state of Karnataka. There are proofs and evidences about him in the museums of England and other countries. The decision of removing the lesson on Tipu from the text books of the school is BJP government's decision. I will not question that. There is no loss for us by this act of the BJP government. But it will be a loss for the future generation."

"Britishers, who were the staunch opponents of Tipu Sultan have collected the information on modern technology of Tipu in their museums. But now, the people of our state are hating Tipu. BJP is trying to divert the minds and emotions of people by playing Tipu's card. It is clear from this approach that the ruling government is narrow minded," said U T Khader.

U T Khader challenged the government by saying, "Will the BJP government, which is going to remove the life story of Tipu Sultan from the history text books, stop the Tipu Salaam Pooja that is offered everyday in the evening in Shringeri Sharadambe and Kollur Mookambika temples? Is it possible for you?"
