Kundapur, Nov 5: Udupi zilla panchayat president, Dinaker Babu on November 5 visited SLRM, which is progressing profitably after taking off as a pilot project.

“The unit which is functioning for third year without stopping even for a day collects trash from each house in Vandse gram panchayat limits. It has been collecting trash from Chittoor gram panchayat also from January. It is earning a profit between five to fifteen thousand from January deducting all the expenditure. The trash is being segregated and sold. Profit increases if the raw materials are enhanced in value and sold. A blueprint of fully fledged SLRM at a cost of Rs one crore is prepared,” said Vandse gram panchayat president, Udaya Kumar Shetty.

Dinaker Babu who watched the functioning of SLRM, expressed his appreciation. Kadekar gram panchayat president, vice president, members and development officer were present.

Vandse gram panchayat development officer Roopa Gopi, Shanker Acharya and SLRM supervisor Vijayalaxmi gave details.
