Mangaluru, Nov 6: Even as Yakshagana Melas under the banner of Kateel Goddess Durgaparameshwari Yakshagana Melas are preparing for their annual tour of Yakshagana performances, a case filed in the state high court is yet to be decided. All the six Kateel Melas are set to begin their annual tours on November 22.

As per a release published in 'Yakshaprabha' publication of the temple, the tour this time will begin with the November 22 performance. The inaugural performance would be dedicated to the Goddess. The temple has asked those who have sought Yakshagana performances in their places, to visit Kateel on November 22 and confirm the dates of their respective dates. The release has been issued in the name of Deviprasad Shetty, convener of Kateel Melas, and it also contains details of Yakshagana performances during November.

In the meanwhile, some rebel artistes are adamant at ensuring that the Yakshagana performances are arranged through auction alone. They met the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district on Tuesday and brought to her notice about the publication about managing the tour under private management, sources said. The commissioner in the muzrai department had issued an order in this connection, which was submitted to the court that has stayed the auction process. A copy thereof was also sent to a legal advisor. Therefore, the rebel artistes expect the high court o hear the case challenging the stay order on November 8, it is gathered.
