Mangaluru, Nov 6: Mangaluru North MLA Dr Bharath Y Shetty said, "Congress are responsible for the disaster at Pacchanady dumping yard during their tenure at Mangaluru City Corporation.”

Addressing media here on Tuesday, November 5, Bharath Y Shetty said, "Congress has used the money, which was allotted for the development of Pacchanady dumping yard, for different purpose during its tenure at MCC. Health department had submitted a report regarding to possibility of Pacchanady disaster but Congress has ignored it and did not take any measures to avert Pacchanady disaster. There is no proper segregation of waste and unscientific disposal at the dumping yard.”

“The garbage collection is not done properly by Anthony waste management as there is agreement between them and MCC and MCC have failed to cooperate with Anthony waste management when Congress was in power. In Mangaluru North constituency there is corruption in UGD (Under Ground Drainage) system. When Roshan Baig visited Mangaluru, he too smelt corruption in the UGD system and urged for CID investigation. Close to Rs 306 crore is spent on the project. But UGD system is not implemented properly as we can see leakage everywhere in the city. Now under Amruth scheme measures are taken to rectify the issue.

“If BJP comes to power in MCC, then it would focus on infrastructure development for solid waste management and take measures for those who are affected due to Pacchanady disaster.”
