Kundapur, Nov 9: “G Shankar has constructed well equipped building for Kundapur government hospital spending six crore rupees. But there are allegations of lack of cleanliness here. Medical officers should look into it. It is their responsibility to maintain properly the donation,” said Byndoor MLA B M Sukumar Shetty taking officials to task. He was speaking in the KDP meeting of officials held in Kundapur taluk auditorium.

Zilla panchayat member Gauri Devadiga complained that certain medicines are not available in the hospital and those have to be bought from private medical stores. “People should get good service. The MLA should pay a surprise visit here,” she said.

Medical officer Dr Robert Rebello said that there is scarcity of staff in the hospital. “The government has reduced the staff by 25% recently. But we have employed staff for cleanliness under the aegis of Arogya Raksha committee. All types of medicines are available and there is no question of sending people out for them,” he said.

Elected representative were angered by absence of mining and geology department officials. Zilla panchayat member Babu Shetty said that sand is not available even now. “Sand mining has not begun in Byndoor and sand is stored in Halnadu. Sand should be available for people for low rates. The MLA should make sure that officials attend meetings,” he said.

MLA Sukumar Shetty said that the price of sand is fixed in the meeting of deputy commissioner. “Sand mining will be allowed in non CRZ area also. Rs 6,500 are fixed for a load of sand now,” he said.

Laxmi Billava asked why a poor person in Koteshwar is not provided power supply. “Think on human terms and simplify legal process while providing electricity,” said Laxmi Billava.

“Wildlife department holding programme for name sake is not right. DFO should have come for the programme. Other than few officials and school children nobody benefitted by the programme held in Kolloor. Make programmes reach people. There is definite information that Ganja is being grown in Kolloor wildlife sanctuary limits. Destroying it is not important but preventing from growing it is. Avoid illegal occupancy in sanctuary at Western Ghats,” said Laxmi Billava.

“Officials should work sincerely for the progress of government schools. Byndoor zone schools should do well in this year’s results,”

Taluk panchayat president Shamala Kunder, vice president Ram Kishan Hegde, social justice committee president Roopa Pai and chief executive Dr Nagabhooshan Udupa were present.
