Mangalore: Youth Drowns in Gurupur River at Moodushedde

Mangalore, Aug 16: In an incident that occurred on Sunday August 16 noon, a person who had accompanied his friends for a swim in Moodushedde here drowned in Gurupur river.

 

The deceased has been identified as Umesh Chowta (26), son of Venkappa Chowta. A resident of Moodushedde, Chowta was working as a welder in a private workshop at Kavoor here.

 

His friends who accompanied him for a swim said that Chowta fell into the deep waters on placing his leg on a slippery rock. Effort to save him by his three friends went in vain due high water current.

 

Fire personnel arrived at the spot and fished out the body. Kavoor police have registered a case.
