Udupi, Nov 24: The Coast Guard Police force responded quickly to an emergency call and saved the life of a fisherman, who was suffering from acute chest pain while fishing in deep sea at a distance of 8.5 nautical miles from Malpe.

Shreyali boat of Kerala registration had left Mangaluru on the morning of Saturday towards Malpe for fishing. Roopesh (45), one of the fishermen on board developed sudden chest pain when the boat was fishing in the deep sea near Malpe. The other fishermen on board immediately relayed the information to the Coastal police station. The Coast Guard police of Malpe station brought the suffering fisherman to the shore. Roopesh was later shifted to Manipal hospital on police highway mobile vehicle.

Gopala Naika, ASI of Coast Guard police station Malpe, Ramesh, the staff of the station, Mallikarjuna, captain of the boat, Raghavendra Kandike, police inspector, Gajendra PSI, Umesh Jogi, Mona Poojary, ASIs and personnel Sridhar, along with the fisherman Sunderraj took part in the rescue operation.
