Catholic Sabha Udupi releases invitations for ‘Samudayotsav 2020’

Udupi, Dec 12: Catholic Sabha Udupi deanery will be celebrating its community festival ‘Samudayotsav 2020’ at Kalyanpur Mount Rosary church premises on January 19, 2020. A programme to release its invitations was held in the organizations’ auditorium on Thursday. Kalyanpur Mount Rosary church parish priest Fr Dr Leslie D’ Souza released the invitation cards. He said that a change can be brought about by us when we make use of the opportunities for social work. “God has bestowed talents to everybody. Those talents should be made use of. May the Samudayotsav programme help to bring such talents to light. May it help unite laymen of Christian community in order to pave way for unity and harmony in the society,” he said.

Nearly 6,000 community members of Udupi diocese are expected to take part. Special achievers in five sectors and life time achievers will be felicitated. Udupi based children who have made special achievements by remaining outside the diocese will also be honoured. A special discussion on the overview of current situation of the community and future schemes will be discussed in the discussion forum.



Eleven poor children in the diocese will be provided monetary help for education by ‘Sashaktha Samudaya Seva Trust’, a branch of Catholic Sabha.

Chief guests, Indian Catholic Youth Movement Udupi diocese president Dion D’ Souza and Catholic ladies organization president Pramila D’Sa wished the best for the programme.

Catholic Sabha Udupi president Alwyn Qadros, secretary Santhosh Corneleo, former president Valerian Fernandes, Sashaktha Seva trust president Walter Cyril Pinto, former president Alphonse D’ Costa, Dr Jerald Pinto were present. Alwyn Qadros welcomed. Secretary Santhosh Corneleo rendered vote of thanks.

“While the programme is intended to bring ordinary people together, the remainder of the amount collected after deducting expenditure will be handed over to the needy for education, health and shelter. In this connection it is decided to collect large sum to help the weak,” said Sashaktha Samudaya Seva Trust president Walter Cyril Pinto.
